P hillips & Luckey Funeral Homes were established in 1936 in Rockdale and Caldwell and in Giddings in 1938, by E.B. Phillips and P.E. Luckey. Both men were employed by the Henne and Meyer Hardware Store until its closing in 1933 due to the depression.

In later years Mr. Luckey's son Don Luckey and Mr. Phillips's son-in-law Boswell Newton joined the funeral home, and later became the owners making them second generation owners.

Following the death of both Mr. Luckey and Mr. Newton the 3 locations were purchased by long time employees Clyde Jones and wife Wilma Jean of Rockdale and Alfred Zoch and wife Vernelle of Giddings in May of 1972.

After the sudden passing of Clyde Jones his eldest Son Wallace Jones purchased his interst in the business.

The Caldwell location had also seen many staff changes Don and Faye Halverson Managed together for nearly 18 years, until Mr. Halverson died then Glen Schiller co managed with Mrs. Halverson until his passing.

Donny Wood became manager in 1991 and has been serving the community for the past 21 years.

We now go into the future with Ken Wiltz as Managing Director. He has nearly 20 years in the funeral profession. My plans for Phillips & Luckey Caldwell are to offer the same time honored traditons with new ideas from the future. I am very open to new ideas or ways the families want to honor their loved one.
